Short Description:
The purpose of this open debate is to tackle various questions regarding the possibilities for changing concepts related to alternative modes of transport in urban areas. Relevant stakeholders will discuss the usage of bicycles as an alternative mode of transport in the urban areas in different parts of Macedonia. Through practical examples and analysis, the participants will present numbers and facts regarding bicycles, as almost uncommon here in Macedonia, but a significant transport vehicle in many European countries. The debate is expected to explore topics on where to start and what is most important to bring out, regarding the practical potential and influence of cycling in transport. At the moment, civil activism in this area demonstrates a strong interest in exploiting the benefits of cycling (there is a larger critical mass in most cities in the country), and imposes the question of direction towards true changes by decision-makers, in order to assist the movement. Interested parties include civil society, public and business sector, as well as others, who will exchange experiences on the processes implemented so far, and will try to draw suggestions to solve the issues towards certain systematic and sustainable solutions, instead.=
